Sunny Sat'dy with Leonard Cohen

Hi Everyone! Dunno about you guys, but I had such a nice weekend enjoying the lovely sunshine on both days! On Saturday I started off at Josh's place and he wanted to show me his garden! He is from here on to be known as "the courtyard farmer". He is showing me his desiree potatoes... that is not a euphemism...

Then after hanging out at his place, we went to Hanging Rock with a picnic to see a concert. His mum got tickets for him for his birthday - and i got to go along! If you haven't heard about 'Picnic at Hanging Rock'... it's this creepy movie. I haven't actually seen it... but i assume it is creepy...

It was a really nice day! We were running late and missed Clare Bowditch and Dan Sultan, but we saw Paul Kelly and Leonard Cohen. Very chilled out day! We had a little picnic and listened to the tunes....

Biatch in the pink Akubra hat wouldn't stop dancing. And i'm talking inappropriate sexy bedroom dancing. And she was about... 50 years old and not the slimmest of creatures, her husband seemed rather indifferent to her behaviour. Everyone was yelling "sit down" at her but she kept on dancing, red wine in hand. At the end of the night there was some of that red wine all down the front of her white shirt too. Josh's grandpa was with us and his claws came out and he called her a 'fat bitch' OUCCHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was pretty funny though!! Here's Josh...

I bet you don't know what that says :P Maybe Shiho will know ^_^ Let's just say that it's the title of a song by Air and it plays in my head every time I look at Josh hehe

That was our delicious picnic of wine, dips, cheese, fruit paste, bruscetta, and vietnamese rice paper rolls. Was great! Leonard Cohen read this poem aloud, and it was the best spoken poem I have ever heard. He is a genius.

It was just a shame how the night ended sort of. We were told not to drive there, but instead to get a V-line train and then get a free shuttle bus from Woodend Station. Well, it all seemed like too much hassle so I drove to woodend and parked at the train station and got the free shuttle from there. The driver said that at the end of the night he didn't think we should meet the buses at the drop off point, but instead at the other side of the venue. When the concert was finishing, we asked a staff member who told us definately to go back where we were dropped off. So we did, and we waited about 45 mins with a bunch of about 30 people. Then we found out that in fact we WERE meant to be at the other side of the arena so we circled it on unlit dirt tracks, stumbling through the freezing night air. I thought we really were going to get lost. The most disconcerting thing was that for every one of us walking towards gate 6, there were about the same number walking back from there.... but they were looking for a different bus.

So we got to Gate 6 and saw a SWARM of drunk and angry people. Leonard Cohen soothed us with his peaceful words and then public transport dissipated whatever happiness there was. I should have taken photos. Anyway we waited in that crowd for a while and eventually at about 11pm or so we got pushed onto a bus. On the hour drive from Woodend back to Josh's I was sleepy so we stopped at Maccas to get a coffee. But then i couldnt sleep when i got home hehe! Oh what a night!!

hey! pachooko!

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii brothaz and sistaz! I am really not sure what to write about today. I am a little brain-melty at the moment and have not prepared anything good for you (as usual). so, i'm down on my knees (don't go there) apologizing to everyone in advance for this shit you are about to read. Let me make things better by showing you how shweet i was looking at my friend's Hen's Night last weekend! Yay, i love my new dress from Dangerfield - it is so cute!

So yeah after the last Doppleganger test (see previous post) I decided to try a photo of myself without glasses. I didn't realise i had so few. I don't have contact lenses so it's glasses or blurry vision for me. Pretty much the only time i'm not wearing my lovely specs is when i'm at work - like right now - and during and around bed-time. so there aren't many photos being taken at that time.... or are there??? no, there aren't. but there could be. but there won't be...

ENOUGH OF THAT! Here is a picture from almost 2 years ago - my 21st birthday partay. I look so weird! Actually that is pretty much the general consensus when people see me without glasses for the first time. "You look weird without glasses"... also one of my closest friends tells me i have tiny eyes, so now i am "shrimp eye" like on the Mighty Boosh (season 3 crack fox episode). sigh.

Here are the results of my doppleganger test #2... cbf putting photos of all these people but you should know most of them. If i know who they are then you should, as i know very little about "hollywood" and yeah:
78% - Nina Persson
76% - Rachael Bilson
75% - Sarah Michelle Gellar
74% - Kelly Osbourne
68% - Maria Carey
66% - Katie Holmes, Juliette Lewis, Julianna Margulies
64% - Julia Stiles
63% - Pricilla Presley

Ok, whatever. I think i have decided that I am unique looking and that no celebrities happen to resemble my beautiful form - as unfortunate as that is for them...
Anyway here is hugo who was our meat waitor for dinner on the hens night:

Yep. He loved his sau-sage.
Anyway, last night I went to go see Hayden's (my friend and now housemate) band play at the Arthouse in Melbourne. I have spoken about the venue before but not sure if I have spoken about the band. SMALL TOWN FIASCO is their name, and amazing toonz is the game. The singer is Josh's cousin, and the guitarist is Josh's step-brother, and yeah Hayden is the Bassist. So it's good to go see them and catch up with everyone!
If you follow that link to their myspace, check out the track "this winter" - it's one of my faves! Panag has an amazing voice. Also Panag was in another band called The Knives of Neptune who are fuuuckkiinngg unreal as well. they have sadly stopped playing but released 2 albums - both epic to the maxxxxx!
so this weekend, I am looking forward to slowing down and relaxing. Haven't been doing much of that in the past few weeks so it's going to be awesome! Sleep ins, hammocks, reading, dvds, COOKING and BAKING! aaaaaaaaaaaaah jizz

ravens, crows, and gumby

howdy! i had a great weekend! Friday night was a girly sleepover at my place, i was too busy playing host to take photos, but we had Raclette and watched Sixteen Candles - it was funnnn!

Saturday and Sunday day times were pretty much dedicated to painting doorframes and skirting boards at my dad's place. my legs KILL! all day squatting and standing squatting and standing... argh!

Saturday night Josh's band RAVEN VS CROW played The Arthouse in Melbourne. IT. WAS. AMAZING! They sounded so great, i guess that's what you get when you play at a decent venue :P I was listening to the songs thinking "wow, they sound so different - SO GOOD!" then i realised that is how they sound all the time but when plugged into speakers with bad sound mixing it comes out sounding very different. It was good to finally hear the songs how they were intended to sound :)

Left to right: Josh, Boucher, Evan. Sorry Hayden i cut you off :P
Anyway last night Josh was playing Xbox and i got bored watching so i decided to finally use that nose pore strip thing i bought ages ago. I realised i probably didn't even need to use it as blackheads aren't really a problem, but its just one of those things i have always wanted to try.

If you can't already tell by the borderline nonsensical text, it is a Korean product.

I have to wait HOW LONG?!?! I decided to take photos of the waiting time because i knew that the end product probably wouldnt be photo worthy.. this is me waiting...

I went into the hallway and made a dinosaur with my hand. It is either a Stegosaurus or a Brachiosaurus, i haven't decided.

Chester saw me playing on the carpet and came over for a pat.

But then he started to attack my hoodie draw strings.

I went into the kitchen and remembered I wanted to take photos of these for the blog:

Nope, they aren't pencils.. They arrrrreeeee.....

CHOPSTICKS!!! Woooo! Anyway, then i snuck up behind josh and took a photo of him playing xbox (splinter cell??) I still hadn't put the mattress away from the sleepover so we have been laying all over it all weekend.

Back to the bathroom where i saw gumby trying to hook up with my toothbrush! Fuck that shit!

Then he insisted we take myspace shots. Notice we are both looking away from the camera...

The time was finally up, and i peeled off the strip - with no pain like the clearasil ads used to suggest - to reveal my nose looking... exactly the same. I think because i have a button nose, they arent really designed to fit the shape properly or something *shrug* actually i noticed one little thing stuck to the strip. just one! I dont know how many pores there are on the nose, but i am guessing there are more than one...
my conclusion: BOOOOOOO!!!!

ponys and car robbers

Well it's Tuesday, and I survived yesterday somehow. It was a crazy day, but all that is over now. Here are a few shots from the Raven VS Crow gig at Pony on Friday...

This is the wall behind the stage, i guess you can see why the the place is called PONY now yeah? They also had a sign up that said something along the lines of "scream until you are a little HORSE"..... 'or somethin like dat'. (Billy Madison) loooooooolzzzzzz omomomomomomomgg lol :s

pre-gig idle chat

sound check

I like that one, it's like a frontal lurk..

I took this of the toilet wall, yes i know. gross.
Anyway on the weekend, it also happened to be fathers day! I had my dad and brothers over for a BBQ on Sunday which was pretty good. The only thing was that I was somehow so exhausted after 2 beers and i almost fell asleep on the couch!

Yay, Fathers Day, everyone is soooo happy. Smile for the camera!! No...? Ok.

What a mutha flippin' spread! I made the beef burgers, and the vegie burgers, and we also had the steaks, mushrooms, and dim sims cut in half, oh and sausages and onions, but they weren't on yet. This amount of food is for 4 people. hahahaha i always over-cater. But it was delicious and the fellas took the left over meat (alot) home and i kept the vegie patties. I also made a potato salad and a regular salad too. wowzaaaaa.
Oh, yesterday i almost accidentally stole a car! It all started yesterday morning when i was driving to the station, i was coming up to my regular spot and saw that someone had taken it so i parked a few spots back. As i got out of my car and headed to the station i walked past this OTHER CAR and saw it was identical to mine. 1990 ford telstar in a champagne colour. don't see many around. Anyway i noticed that the windows were all wound down an inch or two... and it was raining. Thought it was strange. Anyway after a long crazy day i was walking back to my car and walked up to the drivers door to see that the window was down a few inches and the door was unlocked. I remembered thinking. "great.. the cherry on top of a shit day, mutha 'uckers uckin' wit my shi'" so i opened the door expecting to see my cd payer ripped out, instead i saw the interior of a foreign car. I was standing there for about 2 seconds before my brain realised i wasn't going insane, i was just looking like i wanted to jack this other car. so i quickly slammed the door and ran to my car and sped away home wondering if the car belonged to the people of the house it was parked in front of. It's probably some disgraced ex-cop who sees me park there every day and decided he would bait me and catch me in the act and get some police action.
i'll show him, i'll show them alll!

friday fantasyland

howdy pardners! In case you are living in a cave, or are in a different timezone... today is friday!! which is titilating because obviously it means i have a wonderful weekend ahead of me!

Tonight Josh's band "Raven VS Crow" are playing at the Pony in Melbourne. Here is the flyer, it's pretty!

Their drummer Evan (or Ev-bro) has been in Europe for about 6 weeks so this is the first gig in a few months! fuck yeah fuck yeah! They have another gig next Saturday at the Arthouse in Melbourne which is a fucking amazing venue, and i think they are pretty stoked! All the walls are painted on, and sometimes if there is a band playing that you aren't really interested in, you just find yourself staring at the walls - but in a non-pot smoking way. They will be playing with Balls Revolution again, as well as our friends in Small Town Fiasco who I havent seen play (or socially for that matter) in ages!

Here are a few shots of The Arthouse walls...

Apart from tonights engagement, my other plans are all up in the air. Of course Sunday is father's day, so it looks like i might be doing a BBQ lunch for daddy-o. We (my two brothers and i) also have to organise a present still. Well, our fathers day/birthday present to him is that we are doing up his house... but its always nice to get a little token on the day. I had the idea that we could get some photos of us as kids and make them black and white and put them in matching frames as a little decoration for the "new look" house. could be the way to go.. anyway i am running out of things to say, and I have to go get a squirty bottle for my mushroom farm to keep it moist. true story..

MAXIMUM THE HORMONE!!!!!!

are a Japanese nu metal band and they are awesome. Listening to this is like listening to a metal band doing commercials endorsing fruit juice or a new range of pokemon or something. The girl is the drumme,r and in the breakdowns she sings!

I heard they are coming to Soundwave 2010 and i got a bit excited! I started listening to one of the albumns I picked up in Japan and was getting really into it, then i realised i don't know what they are saying really.... i just know what i hear. Here is an example of what i mean with a few random lines from the song "Koi no Mega Lover"... The red is the lyric and the black is what i sing along with...
