how much fun can you have with a hair extension or two?

THIS MUCH!

I wanted to know what i'd look like with long hair as i'm thinking of growing it (OMG), so my cousin Nikki and I were mucking around with her extensions. We remenisced about her Grade Prep photo with the awesome fringe and decided to recapture the moment...

So silly.. my stomach hurt from laughter. good times!

randomania

I have taken a few photos lately of some things that make the eyes go 'weooeoeoeooeoeoeoe!!!!!'

Firstly, I was at the supermarket the other day and saw this...

Is that... Jason Biggs? Is it?? Cos sometimes I'm like "Yeah it's totally him" .... and other times i'm like "nah it's just a similarity..."

My god. Oh and now I want to introduce my friend... Brother Nashua. He is an Ahmish youth on Rumspringa...

As you can see, his eyes are closed because of his rejection of technology. He refuses to see the camera or any of the lights on in the house. He's still getting the hang of Rumspringa. But i'm sure I saw him eat what he thought was an av-er-age brownie and soon he was trying to eat a light bulb with his head stuck in the microwave. He went a little nuts. That was on Saturday, and by now he is probably a meth dealer or harrassing his community by driving past their farms with Bruce Springsteen blaring out of the stereo. It's true, i've seen it on a Rumspringa doco. Crazy days. Oh and also, my DVD player broke so Josh took it apart to see what the problem might have been...
and i found out there was a whole mini city inside!!!

buildings, bridges, weird art installations, and even a half-pipe at the skate park! amazing.

x-ray cool

Again, the title is just because I don't have any posts beginning with X. Well, you wouldn't think it... but I still have lots to say!

Just pretend we are like cliche american teens in our baby pink skimpy PJ's, having a 3 hour conversation on our land-line phones. my phone looks like this:

and your phone looks like this:
We are laying on our stomachs on our lacy, pillow ladden beds with our legs waving around behind us, and in the back-ground you can see out of focus posters covering the walls. Is that Ryan Phillipe??

Anyway. Let's talk about the weird banging that is occuring on the wall next to me at work. On the other side of this wall is the building next door. I have a feeling it is a ground floor apartment but not sure. Here's what I DO know:
- It has a keypad glass sliding door as an entry point
- It looks more like a shop

- One time I walked past and the sliding door was open and it looked either like a tiny kitchen/lounge or a tiny bar like in Japan. This asian man was serving up bowls or rice from a rice cooker. Possible asian gang hideout?
- I found this poster stuck to the door, and I am now theorising that the asian man there is into S&M.

So myself and Kate (the girl who also saw the poster) think the banging is just the party still raging. I imagine there is one person left conscious, tied up against the wall and they are banging to alert our attention. We thought this was funny, and then shit became real when we heard this screaming from out in the alley/street. My boss climbed the stairs to look out of the window and said: "there's an old asian man screaming and running down the street!". Kate and I think that the gimp has finally escaped and is running for help. While we know that all of this is very unlikely, it is still funny to imagine.

You know what is also funny to imagine? Things that are happening in pictures that probably aren't.

Exhibit A) This is from hayden's facebook. Gettin' checked out from all angles huh? Look at that girl's finger in her mouth! Go Team Hayden!

Exhibit B) Hayden tells everyone that he is part of the Vegan Strength Movement (I'm going to label it a movement) but he actually isn't welcome because he is too small:

Hot damn, those are some large vegans! You know what else is large?? Uhh..hmm that analogy i tried to set up... and it doesn't work. But you know what's coooool? Josh's friend Jim told me about a podcast I might enjoy called "The Moth". Josh happened to have some, so he put 7 episodes on my iPod last night. I listened to 2 today on the train, and they were really amazing. It is similar to This American Life where people tell their story in relation to a theme. However, The Moth is recorded at like clubs or something, and the people get up on stage with no notes and freestyle their story as apposed to This American Life which is more like an interview or a studio recorded piece. I listened to Deborah Scaling Kiley tell her story "Lost at sea" in which she goes on a sailing trip with a bunch of others and it turns really bad. Really really bad. Think sharks and sea-madness and death. She told the story so well but that may be due to the fact that she now does public speaking about her books and experiences all the time. I also listened to Kira Salek tell her story "Bone Yard Stretch" about how she went solo backpacking around Africa when she was 20 and got herself into heaps of trouble and got taken into custody by African Government soldiers who planned to gang-rape her. I can only imagine my face while i was listening to this on the train.

Ok. One other thing has happened today. I have decided I like The Smiths. Haha. For a long time I found them utterly depressing, but I decided to listen to some on my iPod (not sure who put them there) and found the music and lyrics actually beautiful. Funny huh? Maybe because Maki is a huge fan and subliminally i hear him play it all the time and have become brainwashed into liking it? I don't think so.... but I like them. Maybe next time i'm on the toilet I'll pick up the Morrissey encyclopedia that is on the bookstand? hehe
Also i will be watching NEW MOON for the first time very sooon, i will have to go into this tomorrow!!

hey! pachooko!

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii brothaz and sistaz! I am really not sure what to write about today. I am a little brain-melty at the moment and have not prepared anything good for you (as usual). so, i'm down on my knees (don't go there) apologizing to everyone in advance for this shit you are about to read. Let me make things better by showing you how shweet i was looking at my friend's Hen's Night last weekend! Yay, i love my new dress from Dangerfield - it is so cute!

So yeah after the last Doppleganger test (see previous post) I decided to try a photo of myself without glasses. I didn't realise i had so few. I don't have contact lenses so it's glasses or blurry vision for me. Pretty much the only time i'm not wearing my lovely specs is when i'm at work - like right now - and during and around bed-time. so there aren't many photos being taken at that time.... or are there??? no, there aren't. but there could be. but there won't be...

ENOUGH OF THAT! Here is a picture from almost 2 years ago - my 21st birthday partay. I look so weird! Actually that is pretty much the general consensus when people see me without glasses for the first time. "You look weird without glasses"... also one of my closest friends tells me i have tiny eyes, so now i am "shrimp eye" like on the Mighty Boosh (season 3 crack fox episode). sigh.

Here are the results of my doppleganger test #2... cbf putting photos of all these people but you should know most of them. If i know who they are then you should, as i know very little about "hollywood" and yeah:
78% - Nina Persson
76% - Rachael Bilson
75% - Sarah Michelle Gellar
74% - Kelly Osbourne
68% - Maria Carey
66% - Katie Holmes, Juliette Lewis, Julianna Margulies
64% - Julia Stiles
63% - Pricilla Presley

Ok, whatever. I think i have decided that I am unique looking and that no celebrities happen to resemble my beautiful form - as unfortunate as that is for them...
Anyway here is hugo who was our meat waitor for dinner on the hens night:

Yep. He loved his sau-sage.
Anyway, last night I went to go see Hayden's (my friend and now housemate) band play at the Arthouse in Melbourne. I have spoken about the venue before but not sure if I have spoken about the band. SMALL TOWN FIASCO is their name, and amazing toonz is the game. The singer is Josh's cousin, and the guitarist is Josh's step-brother, and yeah Hayden is the Bassist. So it's good to go see them and catch up with everyone!
If you follow that link to their myspace, check out the track "this winter" - it's one of my faves! Panag has an amazing voice. Also Panag was in another band called The Knives of Neptune who are fuuuckkiinngg unreal as well. they have sadly stopped playing but released 2 albums - both epic to the maxxxxx!
so this weekend, I am looking forward to slowing down and relaxing. Haven't been doing much of that in the past few weeks so it's going to be awesome! Sleep ins, hammocks, reading, dvds, COOKING and BAKING! aaaaaaaaaaaaah jizz

Doppleganger Week

So, everyone has been going keraaaaaaayzzeeeee on Fache-book over Doppleganger Week. A few of my friends have some pretty spot on celebrity look-a-likes, but I struggle with this. My friend Seona (aka. Drew Barrymore) gave me a link to some site where you upload a photo of yourself and it matches your facial features to celebrities. I thought this might work, so i tried it with this photo:

That's me with the glasses. Ok so here is a list of all my look-a-likes from highest to lowest match.

80% match
James Spader.

Hmm, awesome. I look like a middle aged man with a hairy chest. I was shocked by this, until I saw the rest of the photos...then it all made sense...

76% Match
Elvis Costello and Janeane Garofalo... i guess around the EYE area they look a little similar...

74% Match
Elton John. What. the. fuck...? That's only 6% away from the other man i look like...

72% Match
Larry King. Oh god, I'm getting older the less i look like people now. what does that even mean?

71% Match
Jack Osbourne (before he got ripped and cute) / Wim Wenders (?) / Gary Oldman...

70% Match
Nana Mouskouri and Jack Nicholson. Jack...Nicholson... not even handsome YOUNG Jack nicholson, but old and bloated jack...

So obviously this doesn't work if you wear glasses right? I had to look back almost 2 years to find a picture of me without glasses. My 21st birthday party was a glasses-free zone for me, until i couldnt see anything or anyone and went to find them. If that website wasn't so busy with doppleganger week, i would test out my other photo. Maybe tomorrow...

So, anyway talking about percentages.... why are 80% of my look-a-likes men?

muerta: the fallen

well. this is a bit of a huge post. not so much in the way of length or awesomeness, but more in the way of curse breaking. let me explain...

Lately, my most beloved possessions (only the ones i blog about) have been under attack from the forces of death- the very ones, i suspect, that were at play in the tragic real life story "Final Destination". I don't know what i have done to deserve this dark cloud of death to be hanging over my homestead. Either someone out there has some seriously misguided grudge against me and has laid a curse upon me, or the ancient Greek Gods have cursed me for being so subarashii and having an interesting B-LoG. Probably the latter.

I hope that by commemorating the fallen, I will in effect reverse the curse (lol rhyme) and save everything else i blog about from dying too. Here it goes...

UNO
Oh sushi cup, how i loved thee. I didn't mean to kick you off the footstool and shatter you into a million pieces. I do not regret immediately burying my face into a pillow and fighting the impending tears while Josh disposed of your body. You must understand I just couldn't deal with the carnage. I will never forget how you could hold the perfect cup of tea in your streamlined handle-less form, and how every time i even looked at you a smile would spread across my face. Thank you for being the most awesome cup in the whole cup shop in Osaka and for being so affordable. We had some good times hey? I have seen other sushi cups online but it just wouldn't be the same as you. I might just drink from Josh's similar cup with weird Japanese faces on it, until i can find a suitable replacement in my heart - if that could ever happen.

PS. I'm sorry I blamed Chester for smashing you, it was clearly my fault. Chester wasn't even inside..

DUO

Bento Box, Bento Box.... although I owned you for almost a year before you broke, and only used you twice.... i still loved you. It was a shame that your latch broke, and that you would fall apart when i tried to carry you. You still held up OK when i wrapped rubber bands around you to keep you together but who was I kidding- you had died, and the stench of your death dispersed into my food and spoiled the taste. I still would like another bento box and because we weren't so close i think i can get away with ordering a cute one online. RIP

TRES

Oh Tweedle-Dee... I have already blogged about your demise but again I am sorry that our house doesn't have cooling and that you got blanched to death in the heat wave last week. You were a good fish for all those years, you were very understanding and strong. On the first night i owned you and your brother Tweedle-Dum, someone at the party put a sausage in your bowl to feed you. It sat there for hours until my brother saw it and removed it in disgust. That didn't bother you guys though, you took what you could from it - perhaps it was good for you even, because you lasted 3.5 years. Your brother was not so lucky though - dying shortly after. Even when Chester started trying to attack you in the bowl you didn't give in, you gave him a run for his money. Eventually after we trained him not to want to eat you, you still had enough trust in your heart to let him share your water every day. You also were very understanding if i forgot to clean your bowl and it was so green that we couldn't actually see you. And if i forgot to feed you for a week you stayed strong and got by on whatever you could - you probably ate your own poo to stay alive, who knows? I thank you for your friendship and hope you are in a better place.

QUATTRO

Oh little fish who was tentatively named Ron Weasley or Frank, how ashamed I am that you only lived for less than 24 hours in my home. I cleaned the bowl after Tweedle-Dee had gone, and had it all fresh for you. You even didn't mind Chester sharing your water. Who knows what killed you... the bacteria still present from Tweedle-Dee, the shock from pond to bowl, or the heat of your water which I suspect was the case. I feel very guilty about your death and I want you to know that I was hoping you would outlast Tweedle-Dee and also that I bought you an aerator so you could have bubbles, and some new vitamin-rich fish food. None of which you liced to enjoy.
Perhaps one day I will get another fish, but until that day I will remember both of you fondly.
~
Well, I think that was pretty good. Let's hope this curse has been lifted now and that it doesn't go after Chester or any of the humans i talk about :s (touch wood)

so long and thanks for all the fish

HIGH! Monday again... weeeee! The title of this post does not denote me writing a final post before disappearing into oblivion, rather it is just a homage to the hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy books which i love so dearly. Glad we cleared that up, now we can move on... So the past week has been pretty interesting i suppose. I saw some cool things, namely Exhibit A through D....

Exhibit A) Roof people:

These people live on roofs (rooves?) just like you would live indoors. I startled this particular roofie (lol) as i think he was going to the toilet at the time. my bad!

Exhibit B) Mascot Bear:

This bear is the mascot of my friend's house. After a quick google search i find it is called RILAKKUMA which apparently is a combination of Relax (in japanese pronounced RILAKUSU) and bear (Kuma). While it is pretty cute, it doesn't look as though it is relaxing. It looks more like it is standing guard, monitoring the room through its robot eye room-scan device. I can just picture it detecting movement of a spider across the room and springing to life... jumping down to the ground and taking tiny measured robotic steps forward toward its target, walking right through anything in its path -even the couch - until it reaches its target wherupon it raises its tiny arm and shoots a laser at the spider - incinerating it into oblivion. Totally.
~
Exhibit C) A Door with a handle in the centre:

I was told that the lock mechanism is custom made and is the length of half the door because it has to reach the doorframe. One question.. why? It is really awkward to open and close as the door is heavy, and it is a strange place to be pushing the weight from. Well, if i were an engineer or architect, maybe i could have given some different advice. But i'm not, so my words are pathetic nothings on the breeze. Oh well, i will just enjoy my door with the handle on the side.
~
Exhibit D) John Lemon

I found this in my dad's car on Saturday. He was sitting in the passenger seat and I had to move him when i got in. I got this creepy "survivor" Wilson vibe from it... i didn't know my dad had such trouble making friends. The thing i hate most about him is the dead look in his eyes...well in his Tek Screws. Dad said one of the guys that works for him made it and named it. Sure Dad, sure.
~
~~
Oh, sad news on the weekend... on Saturday my fish Tweedle-Dee Died at the ripe old age of 3.5 years :(
Just after I unveiled him to the world on my blog, along with the new blue rocks and plant, he left me. The fame got to him I guess... life in the spotlight perhaps was a little too hot. Secretly I think it was the drugs, i even once saw him wrapping the fake plant around his neck in what i can only assume is his wardrobe. It was pretty devastating cos I had to flush him, and i couldn't deal with cleaning out his bowl so soon after he was floating in it. I just covered the opening with a tissue box, but Chester was confused as to why he couldn't access his drinking bowl. He eventually outsmarted me and pushed the tissue box off with his nose and went to have a drink of the DEAD FISH WATER. I ran across the room and grabbed him and tipped the water down the sink as he watched me in outrage. He promptly jumped on the bench to where i had left the empty bowl sitting, and tried sticking his head in it to get some water which made me get pretty emotional. He refused to drink water from his ACTUAL water bowl next to his food, and i was worried he would dehydrate. I had friends over on Saturday night and Chester showed them all his heart-wrenching display of loss and longing for his full fishbowl. I think it pulled many a heart-string. Damn that ginger cat.
~
On Sunday Josh decided that we should probably get another fish to restore the balance in the house. We were at his dad's place and they said we could take one of the fish from their pond. We went out and sat by the pond in the sunshine watching the fish for probably half an hour or so. Apparently all the fish in there, and i'm guessing there are about 50, are all related. They bought a few from the pet-shop and every year they just keep breeding so now there are fish of every description swimming around! They named one Hitler because it has a little black moustache and a little black patch on its head for hair. Also one is called Mick Jagger because it has big red lips. Another one is called Sinker because it has a problem with its "swim bladder" and when it stops swimming it just sinks to the bottom. Interesting.
So i picked a little one and took it home and this is him/her:

I wanted to call it Ron Weasley because it has a red head, but Josh isn't cool with that, maybe because i had a crush on Rupert Grint for a few months recently heh. He said "Ron" might be ok, but wants to brainstorm a list of better names. He suggested Frank which i like, but we'll see how we go. Here is Chester having a loooong drink from the renewed fish bowl, notice the fish's face hahaha it looks like he is screaming:

Well the dog drinks from the pond where the fish used to live, so he is ok with the cat. Today i have to go the the pet store near my work and get a new tube for the aerator that Josh's dad gave me. I have never used one before, but i really want to try and get this little guy to live longer than Tweedle-Dee. Could be a little tough. I wonder how old this fish is... or even how old Tweedle-dee was when i got him. Maybe he was already like 50 years old! Nah. The more i think about it, I dont think fish are meant to be kept in bowls, they last so much longer in ponds and grow so big. I want a pond now. But first i will be concentrating on my chicken plan. I plan to build a coop and have some cute chooks :) hooraaaahhh
anyway, i have lots more to say but i will save it for a new post as this one is getting quite long! Toorah lovies!

lessons i have learnt

I would like to share with you a few things i have learnt in the past year. I am literally full of widsom and advice, it takes the place of the water content in my system so i have to drink a lot of water to stay alive. and i mean a LOT... anyway, here we go:

Lesson 1) Trampolines are scary shit

Lesson 2) If you buy alphabet fridge magnets, expect to find obscure and vulgar messages the day after a party. (Note the additional offensive "rude finger" to the right..)

Lesson 3) Don't taunt dogs if you don't want your face ripped clean off your skull

Lesson 4) never buy a kebab from Mr. Funny Kebab.

Lesson 5) Don't leave yourself open for ridicule... because even your closest friends will shit on you if they have the chance to get a laugh

Lesson 6) Cats will always sit where you don't want them to...and there is no way you can change nature, man...

Lesson 7) Cookies (especially Valentines cookies) and the sexy ladies who make them are fucking rad

Lesson 8) When you go to your grandpa's retirement home, don't go into the oxygen room because i have theorised that it is either like that bubble room in charlie and the chocolate factory... or there are half dead people strapped to beds with monitors and dials and the soft whooshing of oxygen being pumped into lungs... in other words: fucking creepy.

Lesson 9) Jumping into a pile of firewood (intentional or otherwise) is not a good idea and will probably result in injury...

Lesson 10) Even if you handcuff a trouble maker, they will still make trouble...

Lesson 11) Don't give your camera to other people unless you want some interesting photos to result...

(i took away the one of a guys balls due to public outrage... fair nuff..)

Lesson 12) Don't make fun of bogans and their Australian pride tattoos unless you know for sure that the people you are laughing 'with' with are aussie tattoo free (oops :P)

Lesson 13) Never go paintballing again...

My poor hand...

So there you are... 13 gold nuggets of advice picked up from my experiences as a living human. You can choose to trust me or ignore me, but be warned: he who ignores the poor old beggar woman shall be doomed for all eternity in the pits of hell, muahaahaaa muahahaaa *cackle*
